Merry Christmas!
Wednesday, December 24th, 2008Patch 1.0.1 available
Thursday, December 18th, 2008Today we released the first update for Puzzlegeddon, making the current version 1.0.1. The update includes a number of tweaks, additions and bugfixes based on the feedback we have gotten since release.
How to patch the game:
To patch the game, download the patch that is appropriate for your version here and run the installer. If you bought the game from Greenhouse, then please make sure that you download and run the respective patch for that particular version, otherwise the game will not patch properly. The demo has also been updated with the recent additions and a new demo version is now available for download.
The patch is approximately 5 MB in size and can be found here.
Patch features:
Apart from a number of bugs which have been resolved with this release, some additions to the game include:
- Additional information about games and server status in the find games screen, such as what players are populating a game and who the host is
- The selected language of players is now displayed in-game, as well as making it easier to distinguish the host
- Autosearch is now available from the main menu and a create game-button has been added to the find games screen
- The puzzle blocks in Dead Puzzler’s Challenge have been redone to improve legibility and make it easier for everyone to puzzle. Some of the challenges have also been tweaked
- Puzzle mode, Abilities and Modifiers have all undergone some slight tweaks to make for an even better experience
- The game now supports a Finnish language option
- A quit game prompt has been added to in-game states
To learn about all the bits and pieces, the patch release notes can be found here (PDF).
With that, the whole Pieces team wishes you all a happy holiday and a merry christmas!

Puzzlegeddon – critical reception so far
Monday, December 15th, 2008The first reviews of Puzzlegeddon are starting to pop up and it makes us happy to see that people seem to really enjoy the game. Below is a short roundup of some of the reviews so far. We will also be posting a final review roundup later on.
IGN recently posted their review, concluding: “For what you’re paying Puzzlegeddon is a great value and provides gameplay with a surprising amount of depth.”
“If you’re bored of standard Bejewled match-3 type games and want something well designed that feels quite a bit different, Pieces Interactive’s Puzzlegeddon is a solid choice” – 7.9/10
Lucidlan.com concluded in their review that: “Puzzlegeddon is a well structured casual game with great combination of both puzzle genre and action genre bringing together both puzzle lovers and action game lovers. The game’s controls are quite easy to get used to. For you out there who love puzzle games with some action and a twist of humor, Puzzlegeddon is the game for you.”
The folks at Lucidlan were also kind enough to nominate us for the 2008 Lucidlan Videogame Awards for “Best casual game”, which is very flattering. To see the complete list of nominees and most importantly, to vote for us, please go the official awards website.
The Swedes have also started to review the game, such as Spelkontroll.net – 8/10 and FZ.se – 3/5.
Finally, website Villagegamer.net posted a review which instantly made us smile: “Puzzlegeddon is an amazingly well done game and is extremely easy to get hooked on. If you can get past the first game or two then you will be playing late into the night (or morning as my case was). The second time I played the game, I figured I would play for a few hours and then go do the rest of the things I had to do for the day. It didn’t work out nearly that way, after playing for nearly 8 hours I finally managed to close the game”
“If you don’t see me around, you’ll know right where to find me, launching missiles at my friends!”
Modifier combinations
Friday, December 12th, 2008In the wake of the first Thursdaygeddon we’d like to give some tips on how you can combine the different game rule modifiers available in Puzzlegeddon to create different types of matches. These are just some combinations we’ve found entertaining at the office, I’m sure you can find many more!
Perfect Destruction + Regenerating Health

The regenerating health provides a certain security against smaller attacks thus making the instant kill properties that Perfect Hits get with Perfect Destruction a far more effective weapon. This is a match for the fatalistic where the tables may turn in an instant!
